Eight C-5 transmission calibrations are being released for the 1986 model vehicle applications: seven passenger car models and one truck model.
The 5.0L truck engine application has been dropped from the C-5 line-up. Seven of the eight C-5 transmission calibrations (six car and one truck) are carry over and can be used as 1985 transmission replacements where necessary.
Transmission hardware changes occurring late 1985 or early 1986 model year include:
^ Galvanized oil pan to improve corrosion protection.
^ 1.5 mm longer passenger car cooler line quick connect fittings to insure full seating of cooler line metal tube wall.
^ Domestic truck model and three export models to have new high swell oil pan gasket material to reduce leakage concerns. Oil pan fastener torque will be reduced to accommodate the new gasket.
^ No. 7 governor seal to be cast iron (was teflon). Service replacement seal will continue to be cast iron.
^ No. 5 and No. 6 governor seals will remain teflon in production. Service replacement seals will continue to be cast iron.
