Subject: Request for Return of Brake Booster E6DZ-2005-A

The subject part has been changed in production to revise brake feel. As a result, parts manufactured prior to the 357th day of 1985, should be withdrawn from all inventories. All unused E6DZ-2005-A should be sorted for an affected date code. Suspect stock has a date code prior to 5357. The date code contains seven (7) characters (ie: 3U5357B), with positions 1 and 2 representing the assembly line and plant location. Positions 3,4,5 and 6 are the date code, with position 3 being the year and positions 4,5 and 6 being the day of the year. Position 7 is the work shift. Suspect stock should be returned to your facing PDC within 30 days from the date of this letter. Use the least expensive mode of transportation for your return. Inventory of E6DZ-2005-A that has a date code of 5358 or later should not be returned, but rather retained for normal sales. Replacement quantities of the same part number are available for ordering immediately.

You are requested to complete a separate FPS-340 form in accordance with the instruction on the front of the form. Annotate "Returned per FPSD Instructions Purge No. PN 1029" in the Customer's Detail Explanation Section and use Reason Code J (Unsatisfactory Service Stock).

You will receive full credit on your parts statement for the price of each unused part returned, plus the prepaid transportation cost. In order to receive return credit, all parts must be received at the Parts Distribution Center within 30 days from the date of this letter. Material other than suspect E6DZ-2005-A received on this return will be sent back to you freight collect.
