BRAKES - REAR - SQUEAL AND/OR STICKING

NOISE - "SQUEALING" FROM REAR BRAKES
LIGHT-TRUCK: 1985-88 RANGER, BRONCO II 1986-88 AEROSTAR
ISSUE: A "squealing" noise and/or sticking condition during the first few brake applications when the brakes are cold or in the morning after an overnight rain may be caused by brake lining material that is highly sensitive to humidity.



ACTION: Install new design brake linings that are made from material that is less sensitive to humidity. Refer to the following brake lining application chart for the correct service part number. Removal and installation procedures are contained in the appropriate model year Ranger/ Bronco II Shop Manual, Section 12-02-5 and Aerostar Shop Manual, Section 2-02-7.
