Door Lower Opening

NOTE: This procedure is to be performed if the door upper opening/hatch weatherstrip is long enough to meet the lower door weatherstrip.

1. Remove the attaching screw at the front of the door scuff plate.

2. Pull the weatherstrip out of the body channel. Discard the weatherstrip.

3. Loosen the center attaching screw on the "A" pillar garnish moulding.

4. Starting at the bottom of the door opening, press the moulding into the body channel.

Leave a 1/4 inch gap between the weatherstrips at the bottom of the door.

5. Install the weatherstrip into the body channel. Mark the weatherstrip with approximately 2 inch overlap and cut the bulb section only at this point. The weatherstrip should continue up the "A" pillar to the roof and be cut off.

6. Before completing the weatherstrip installation, install a bolster in the bulb section of the weatherstrip where it was cut to line up with the retainer.

7. Install the scuff plate attaching screw and tighten the "A" pillar moulding attaching screw.

8. Attach the upper weatherstrip to the lower weatherstrip with black weatherstrip adhesive (8A- 19552-B).
