Typical Adjustment Procedure

NOTE: The key to correcting waterleaks caused by improperly adjusted door glass is to perform the glass and weatherstrip adjustments carefully and exactly as shown. If you short cut this procedure, you probably will not eliminate the water leaks.

1. If necessary, loosen all the adjustments.

2. Push the door glass to its full forward position and tighten the fore-aft adjustment.

3. If the alignment mark from the reinforcement panel procedure is present, align the mark with beltline moulding.

Have a second technician sit in the front seat with the necessary tools to tighten the adjustments and close the door.

4. Position the glass in the door opening and hold it in place as close as possible to the correct position in relation to the weatherstrips.

Apply a slight pressure at the top of the glass while the second technician tightens the fore and aft tilt adjustment.

The adjustment is accessible through the opening between the door glass and inner door panel.

5. Continue holding the glass and have the second technician tighten the front and rear up-stops.

Push the up-stops downward against the plastic puck on the door glass and tighten the adjustment.

6. While holding the door glass in position, lower it approximately 6 inches and tighten the in and out tilt adjustment.

7. Open the door and place the trim panel over the edge of the door inner panel. Do not push the panel retaining pins into the door.

Close the door, raise the glass and check the door glass to weatherstrip fit.

8. If the glass comes up inside the "B" pillar weatherstrip, adjust the in and out tilt of the glass.

Lower the glass and loosen the adjustment but leave the bolts snug. The glass can be moved in or out using a screwdriver.

9. The position of the "A" and "B" pillar weatherstrip can also be adjusted to take care of small gaps or excessive tightness between the door glass and weatherstrip.

The pillar retainers can be moved in and out in a straight line or tilted.
