ISSUE: Paint stripes that peel may be caused by the use of acrylic lacquer over a new type enamel Clearcoat at the assembly plant. The two different types of paint are not compatible.

ACTION: To correct this, repaint the stripes using an enamel paint. Refer to the following service procedure.


1. Remove paint residue from existing stripe area(s).

2. Use "Wax and Grease Remover" to clean surface area.

3. Mask off above and below the area(s) to be striped.

4. Lightly rub the area(s) with ultra-fine rubbing compound.

5. Clean the area(s) again with "Wax and Grease Remover".

6. Paint stripe on prepared area(s) using an enamel paint.
