This adjustment is performed on vehicles equipped with solenoid switch vent. Remove air cleaner, then disconnect bowl vent lines from carburetor and thermal valve. Check for proper operation of bowl vent solenoid by connecting suitable vacuum pump to vent line. Turn ignition to ``On'' position, then apply vacuum. If vacuum is maintained, solenoid is operating properly. If not, solenoid is leaking and check as follows:
1. Place hand on switch vent assembly while ignition switch is turned on and off.
2. If clicking is heard and felt with hand, solenoid is activating and deactivating as voltage is applied.
3. If solenoid does not operate as described in step 2, disconnect electrical connector.
4. Check for broken or loose wires to the solenoid and for proper terminal contact in the connector. Repair as necessary.
5. Connect voltmeter and check that voltage is applied to solenoid. If solenoid is receiving voltage, check for binding or plugged vent valve and clean or replace as necessary.
