Assembly

Before installing throttle shaft assembly, carefully support assembly and drive venturi valve limiter stop pin out of shaft and discard pin.
1. Place venturi valve limiter assembly in throttle body and slide throttle shaft into place, installing ``E'' clip if equipped.
2. Place throttle plates in proper position, noting scribe marks, and turn new screws in snug but not tight.
3. With throttle closed, tap plates lightly to ensure proper centering and tighten screws, then stake screws carefully.
4. Drive new venturi valve limiter stop pin into shaft, leaving approximately 1/8 inch exposed.
5. Install roll pin, then engage roll pin with socket and, holding firmly, rotate clockwise to line up scribe marks on throttle body and sensor.
6. Install attaching screws and the E-clip.
7. Install fast idle lever, nylon bushing if equipped, fast idle adjusting lever, throttle shaft retaining nut, fast idle adjusting screw and deloading lever if equipped.
8. Install TSP Off idle speed adjusting screw.
9. Carefully support choke housing casting and carefully press bushing into housing, then stake in place.
10. Install fast idle intermediate lever, large ``E'' clip, fast idle cam and adjusting screw.
11. Slide choke control diaphragm rod into position and engage the rod and ``E'' clip.
12. Slide choke shaft pin and lever assembly into casting and install choke thermostatic lever and screw.
13. Install choke control diaphragm spring, cover and new breakaway screws.
14. Apply three 1/2 inch beads of suitable sealant to each side of choke cap gasket adjacent to choke cap screw bosses.
15. Install choke thermostat gasket, housing and retaining ring using new breakaway screws, then adjust choke cap to specifications.
16. On all models, install throttle return control device and bracket.
17. Position throttle body gasket on main body and assemble main body to throttle body.
18. Drop accelerator pump check ball and weight into pump discharge channel.
19. Slide venturi valve diaphragm into main body.
20. Install venturi valve diaphragm spring, spring guide, cover and retaining screws.
21. Install feedback motor, gasket, pintle valve and pintle spring.
22. Install the 1/8 inch pipe plug in the fuel inlet boss.
23. Install venturi valve limiter screw in venturi valve.
24. Install O-ring seals on main metering jets, applying suitable lubricant to O-rings.
25. Using suitable tool, turn each main metering jet clockwise until it is seated in casting, then turn each jet counterclockwise the number of turns recorded during disassembly.
26. Using tool T77L-9533-C or equivalent, install jet plugs, tapping tool lightly until it bottoms on face of casting.
27. Install metering rods, metering rod springs and metering rod pivot pins on venturi valve.
28. Install venturi valve, carefully guiding metering rods into main metering jets.
29. Press down on metering rods. If springs are properly assembled they will spring back.
30. Install venturi valve pivot pin bushings and the pivot pins.
31. Using suitable tool, carefully press tapered plugs into venturi valve pilot pins.
32. On all models, install venturi valve cover plate roller bearings, the cover and attaching screws.
33. Install accelerator pump operating rod and dust seal.
34. Attach ``E'' clip and washer, then slide accelerator pump over travel spring on to rod.
35. Insert accelerator pump lever and swivel assembly into pump link.
36. Install accelerator pump link screw and nut, then the adjusting nut.
37. Install fuel inlet valve seat gasket, the seat and valve.
38. Install float bowl gasket.
39. Install float assembly and float hinge pin.
40. Adjust float level as described under ``Adjustments.''
41. Assemble accelerator pump return spring, cup and plunger, and internal vent valve and retainer if equipped.
42. Place pump piston assembly in position in hole in upper body.
43. Assemble upper body to main body, holding pump piston assembly with finger and guiding it into pump cavity in main body. If choke control rod broke during disassembly, a new rod must be positioned through opening before installing upper body. Ensure that venturi valve diaphragm stem engages venturi valve.
44. Install fuel filter spring, the filter, inlet fitting gasket and inlet fitting.
45. Install air cleaner stud.
46. Install choke control rod dust seal and tap gently to straighten retainer.
47. Slide cold enrichment rod into upper body.
48. Assemble cold enrichment rod travel stop screw, lever, adjusting swivel, control vacuum regulator and adjusting nut, then install assembly. If new assembly is being installed, assemble level to swivel. Position assembly and tighten CER nut enough to seat assembly.
49. On all models, install choke hinge pin and ``E'' ring.
50. Perform final control vacuum regulator (CVR)/cold enrichment rod (CER) adjustment.
51. Adjust fast idle cam. Install choke thermostat gasket, housing and retaining shroud using three new breakaway screws, then adjust choke cap to specifications.
52. Engage accelerating pump operating rod and the choke control rod and install E-ring retainers.
53. Install venturi valve limiter stop screw and torque retention spring, then adjust venturi valve limiter, installing plug after adjustment is completed.
54. Adjust carburetor to specifications and, after adjusting control vacuum, install plug in venturi valve cover.
55. Adjust accelerator pump lash to specifications.
