The subject vehicles may exhibit loss of heater and/or air conditioning and erratic starter operation.

The 9E724 wiring harness may become chafed due to contact with burrs on the windshield wiper motor housing, causing shorts in the heater, A/C and starting motor circuits.

To correct this condition, repair any damaged wires, retape the harness, remove any sharp burrs on the wiper motor housing using a fine, flat file and reroute the harness as shown in Figure 3. Install clip, part number 383207-S, into the existing hole in the cowl to retain the wire harness.
