Without A/C
Electrical Cooling Fan, No A/C:
CHECKING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1. Disconnect motor lead. Jumper motor terminals, negative to ground and positive to B+.
^ Does the motor run?
NO -- Replace motor.
YES -- Connect motor leads and go to step 2.
2. Disconnect electrical connector at coolant temperature switch and check for voltage on circuit 37 (Y). Should equal battery voltage.
^ Does battery voltage exist on circuit 37?
YES -- Go to step 3.
NO -- Check for open or short in Circuit 37(Y) and/or fuse link and/or circuit breaker.
3. Jumper cooling fan temperature switch connector pins together. Cooling fan motor should run.
^ Does the cooling fan run?
YES -- Replace the cooling fan temperature switch.
NO -- Leave the jumper connected and go on to step 4.
4. Disconnect connector at fan motor and check for voltage on circuit 228 (BR/V). With cooling fan temperature switch connector jumpered, circuit 228 (BR/V) should have battery voltage.
^ Does battery voltage exist?
YES -- Go to step 5.
NO -- Check circuits 228 BR/V and 182 BR/W for open. Service wiring between fan motor and cooling fan temperature switch as necessary.
5. Check ground, circuit 57 (BK) for continuity.
^ Does continuity to ground exist?
YES -- Replace cooling fan motor
.
NO -- Repair open in circuit 57 BE.
