EMISSIONS RECALL NOTIFICATION:
In July, 1992 you were notified that Ford Motor Company was voluntarily recalling certain 1986-model Escort, Lynx and EXP cars. If you recently acquired this car a previous owner was notified. Our letter indicated that the engine in car the identified above by vehicle identification/serial number may be releasing air pollutants which exceed Federal standards.
Our records indicate that your car was not serviced by a Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealership.
TEMPORARY RECALL SERVICE SUSPENSION:
Shortly after the recall notification letters were sent, we learned that the recall service performed on some of the cars was not providing the intended results. At that time, we informed you or the previous owner that the service provided by this recall had been temporarily suspended.
AVAILABILITY OF IMPROVED EMISSIONS RECALL SERVICE:
This letter is to notify you that improved recall service for your 1986-model Escort, Lynx or EXP car is now available.
WHAT THE DEALER WILL DO:
At no cost to you, your dealer will inspect and modify the emissions control systems on your car's engine. This service is designed to eliminate unsatisfactory engine performance and to reduce air pollutants.
It is important that you have this service done to assure that your car's engine will pass emissions or smog tests that may be required in your area.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The time needed to service your car's engine is about one hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your car for one full day.
CALL YOUR DEALER:
Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a service date and ask if parts are in stock at the dealership.
If the dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your car for service. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.
When your bring your car to the dealership, present this letter to the dealer service manager. If your misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the service work free of charge.

If you have, please fill out the enclosed prepaid postcard and mail it.
