Attachment III - Service Procedure Verification

Service Procedure Verification

Affected Vehicles:
1986 Model 1.9L Engine equipped Escort, Lynx or EXP serviced under Emissions Recall 93E38 or 93E39 prior to August 1, 1994

Procedure
This service procedure verification is to assure that four steps were correctly completed on cars serviced under Emissions Recalls 93E38 or 93E39.

Step 1





^ Refer to Figure 1. Locate the air control side of the combination air control and bypass valve.

^ Has the vacuum delay valve been removed from the air control valve vacuum line?

Step 2





^ Refer to Figure 2. Locate the EGR valve.

^ Has the vacuum retard delay valve been removed from the EGR valve vacuum line?

Step 3





^ Refer to Figure 3. Look behind the carburetor to locate the spark and EGR ports.

^ Has the carburetor spark port vacuum line been removed and T'd into the EGR port line?

^ Has the spark port been capped?

Step 4





^ Refer to Figure 4. Locate the distributor.

^ Is a green/black vacuum delay valve installed in the distributor vacuum line?

Special Authorized Instructions

^ If any one or more of the above steps have not been completed, you must call 1-800-325-5621 for authorization to perform the service.

^ Be prepared to provide the VIN, your P & A code, and the steps that were not completed. You will be given a service authorization number to proceed with the repairs.

Do not release the car to the owner or proceed with service until you receive the authorization number.
