All 1.9L engine and automatic transmission-equipped Escort, Lynx and EXP vehicles with calibration 6-08A-R25 (engine code ZK-470-AD/BD) and manufactured at the Edison, Oakville and Wayne Assembly Plants from February 3, 1986 through May 9, 1986.DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION AND CORRECTION
The Environmental Protection Agency has determined that some of the subject vehicles may be emitting excessive carbon monoxide emission levels. To correct this condition, the following service procedures are to be performed on all returned vehicle
^ Installation of revised vacuum supply assemblies system and a carburetor choke index spacer which will change the engine calibration to 6-08A-R28 (Engine Code ZK-470-BF).
^ Parts required for this recall are packaged in a kit. A quantity of kits equal to 50% of your requirements will be direct shipped to you.
DEALERSHIP OBLIGATIONS
The enclosed listing identifies involved units shipped to your dealership. Other eligible vehicles that may be brought to your dealership for this recall service should be corrected as promptly as possible. If the ownner of an eligible vehicle does not have a Customer Notification and Dealer Claim Form (FCS-1864), please complete a blank Form 1864 and submit it via the Direct Warranty Entry (DWE) system for reimbursement.To determine if a vehicle is eligible, please use "CARES" (Computer Assisted Recall System) or "OASIS" (On-Line Automotive Service Information System).
Dealerships are obligated to perform the recall service promptly following tender of the vehicles by owners. It is important that you immediately report to your FPSD District Office any instance in which an owner will not allow you to complete this recall service because of objections to scheduling or for any other reason.
