ISSUE: Air conditioning condensate that leaks into the passenger compartment may be caused by plugged A/C evaporator drain hose check valves. The A/C evaporator drain hose check valves should be serviced every 7500 miles (12000 kilometers) as called out in the scheduled maintenance section of the owner guide.
FIGURE 12:
ACTION: If service is required, check and clean the A/C evaporator drain hose check valves. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
NOTE: THE EVAPORATOR CHECK VALVES ARE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT INSIDE THE PREFORMED DRAIN HOSES, FIGURE 12.
1. Before removing the evaporator drain hoses, mark them (right and left) to assist in reinstallation.
2. Remove the drain hoses from the evaporator drain tubes by pulling them off.
3. Remove the check valves from the ends of the drain hoses.
4. Remove all debris from the check valves and drain hoses.
5. Inspect the check valves and drain hoses for damage. Replace as required.
NOTE: THE RUBBER FLAP INSIDE THE CHECK VALVE MUST BE SNUG BUT HAVE ENOUGH CLEARANCE AT THE CENTER ATTACHING PIN TO ALLOW IT TO ROTATE FREELY.
6. Reinstall the check valve with the rubber flap pointing downward in the drain hose.
