System Inputs

In order for the ECA to properly control engine operation, it must first receive correct status reports on various operating conditions, which are as follows:
1. Crankshaft position.
2. Throttle plate position.
3. Engine coolant temperature.
4. Exhaust gas oxygen level.
5. Air intake volume/temperature.
6. A/C ON or OFF.
7. Transmission load or unload.
To monitor these conditions, inputs to the system are provided by the following:
1. Profile ignition pickup (PIP).
2. Throttle position sensor (TPS).
3. Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT).
4. Exhaust gas oxygen sensor (EGO).
5. On XR4Ti models, vane air flow (VAF) and vane air temperature (VAT) sensor located in the vane meter.
6. On all models, A/C clutch compressor signal (ACC).
7. Neutral forcing relay (on some automatic transmission models).
