^ PAINT - BUMPERS AND BODYSIDE MOULDINGS - SERVICE TIPS


MERKUR: 1986-88 XR4Ti 1988 SCORPIO

ISSUE: Staining, discoloration, and scratches on bumpers and bodyside mouldings on Merkur vehicles may be refinished with a Ford-authorized service procedure.

ACTION: If service is required, use the following recommended refinishing procedure and DuPont products. Refer to the colorcoat chart on this page for color information.

1. Wash area to be refinished with DuPont 3919S prepsol.

2. Scuff sand area with 320 grit paper.

3. Wash area with DuPont 3939 lacquer and enamel cleaner.

4. Apply one medium coat of DuPont 222S adhesion promoter to area.

5. Let area dry 15-30 minutes.

6. Apply Lucite Acrylic Lacquer. Refer to Colorcoat chart that follows.

NOTE: Add DuPont 350S Flexlar Flexible Additive (use container label directions) to Lucite Acrylic Lacquer.
