Ignition Timing - Adjustment Procedure

Removal of the engine vibration shock absorber will aid in checking and adjusting the ignition timing.
1. Remove spout.
2. With engine off, mark engine damper.
3. Remove two 10 mm bolts that hold engine vibration shock absorber to the top of the shock tower bracket and rotate out of the way.
4. Start engine, position timing light, Rotunda No. 059-00005, as follows: place the front of the timing light on top of the engine shock absorber stationary bracket which is mounted on the shock tower. Position timing light so that it shines through the middle hole of this bracket.
5. Look downward to the left hand side of the damper, for a 6 mm bolt head. Directly below this bolt head is the timing pointer.
6. Check timing and adjust as necessary.
7. Turn off the engine.
8. Reconnect engine shock absorber to shock tower bracket.
9. Install spout.
