87-7-7 TERMINALS - NEW CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

FORD: 1986-87 ALL CAR LINES

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1986-87 ALL CAR LINES

MERKUR: 1986-87 XR4Ti

LIGHT TRUCK: 1986-87 ALL LIGHT TRUCK LINES

ISSUE: A positive locking feature has been added to the micro-pin terminals in the connector.

The previous design allowed the removal of a wire and terminal from the connector after the locking wedge was removed without depressing the locking finger.

Figure 5 - Article 87-7-7:

ACTION: When servicing the new positive locking design terminals, a small screwdriver or similar tool must be used to depress the terminal locking finger before pulling out the terminal and wire, Figure 5.

CAUTION: Attempting to pull the terminal and wire out of the connector without depressing the locking finger will damage the finger, and replacement of the connector will be necessary.
