Driveability concerns may be due to moisture getting into unsealed connectors in the EEC electrical system. When any EEC system component, other than the EEC module, is replaced all unsealed EEC wiring harness connectors located in the engine compartment should be sealed with grease.
1. If the mating harness connector is unsealed and located in the engine compartment, it should be packed with grease.
NOTE: Care must be taken to ensure that excess grease on the connector does not plug drain holes in the shroud on the component.
2. Trace the wires leading from the specific component back to the EEC processor and fill any unsealed inline EEC connectors in the engine compartment with grease.
NOTE: The use of the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual may be helpful in locating connectors.
Figure 10 - THIS METHOD SHOULD BE USED WHEN GREASE FILLING HARDSHELL CONNECTORS:
3. Fill connectors with grease as shown in Figure 10.
NOTE: DO NOT USE ANY GREASE OTHER THAN SPECIFIED.
