Front Seat Track - Rocking Motion During Acceleration

POWER SEAT - FRONT TRACK - ROCKING MOTION DURING ACCELERATION AND BRAKING

A rocking motion of the power front seat during acceleration and braking may result from insufficient clamping of the seat track mechanism by the two clevis pins and their two attaching "E" rings. This can be corrected by removal of the clevis pins and replacing them with the newly designed screws identified in the following procedure.
1. Remove the seat and track assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Section 41-08 in the Taurus/ Sable Car Shop Manual, 2. Remove the seat track from the seat cushion. Refer to Section 41-08 in the Taurus/Sable Car Shop Manual.

3. Remove the "E" ring from the clevis pin as shown in Figure 2.
4. Remove the clevis pins from the seat track and replace them with the newly designed bolts.
5. Attach nuts to the bolts and tighten to 12-16 N-m (9-14 ft.lbs.).
6. Secure the seat track to the seat cushion and tighten all four attaching screws to 12-24 N-m (9- 17 ft.lbs.). Refer to Section 41-08 in the Taurus/ Sable Car Shop Manual.
7. Secure the seat and track assembly in the vehicle and follow the torque requirements as shown. Refer to Section 41-08 in the Taurus/Sable Car Shop Manual.
8. Check seat tracks for proper operation.
