If the rear door latch does not release when actuated by the outside door handle, but the door can be opened with the inside door handle, it may be due to the door latch outside handle release lever binding and taking a permanent set.

In these cases, the rear door handle and the rear door latch assembly must be replaced with new parts of an improved design.
