ISSUE: Coolant and oil leaking at the cylinder head-to-engine block mating surface may be caused by the cylinder head gasket. The leakage will appear more often in climates that have extreme temperature changes like those found in northern regions. Coolant and oil leakage will be most visible in areas below the number 2 and number 3 spark plugs.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new cylinder head gasket made out of a graphite composition. Refer to the appropriate Shop Manual, Section 21 for detailed removal and installation procedures.
