Electronic Clock - Display Digits Fade

Article No. 86-14-2

CLOCK - ELECTRONIC - DISPLAY DIGITS FADE AND/OR LIGHT BLEEDS THROUGH WIPER SWITCH LENS

FORD 1986 TEMPO

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1986 TOPAZ

Figure 2:

The electronic clock may exhibit fading of the clock display digits and/or light bleed-through on the wiper switch lens after one hour of driving with the instrument panel lights on. This is caused by heat build-up from the clock and the bulb for the wiper switch lens. This may be corrected by replacing the wiper switch lens bulb with a (E6MZ-13466-A) bulb. If light bleedthrough is visible at the area shown in Figure 2, the wiper switch lens housing should be replaced. DO NOT replace the clock.
