ISSUE: Several alignment changes have been made to reduce complaints of outer edge tire wear. The major changes are revised alignment specification and improved quality control at the assembly plants to make sure that the vehicle alignment is within the new specifications. These changes are effective in production as of 01/12/87.
NOTE: Dealers are no longer authorized to perform front end alignments prior to the sale of the vehicle.
Dealers are ONLY authorized to perform front end alignments on a customer complaint basis.
ACTION: If a front end alignment on 1987 vehicles is required, refer to the revised alignment specifications below. Please change the 1987 Car Shop Manual, Volume A, Section 14- 01-12 to reflect these new settings.
