ISSUE: A "rattling" noise from the front door while driving or a "clunking" noise when the front door is closed may be caused by the power window motor contacting the bottom of the door inner panel.
ACTION: To correct this, install a piece of butyl between the power window motor and door inner panel. Refer to the following service procedure.
1. Remove the front door trim panel and watershield as outlined in the 1987 Car Shop Manual, Volume A, Section 45-03.
2. Obtain a piece of butyl (E2AZ-6620552-A) and roll it into a cylindrical shape.
3. Remove the front door speaker, if equipped, to allow access for installing the rolled up butyl.

4. Install rolled up butyl between the power window motor and door inner panel, Figure 1.
5. Reinstall the front speaker, if equipped.
6. Reinstall the front door watershield and trim panel.
7. Cycle the glass to check for proper operation.
8. Water test to make sure the watershield is properly installed.
9. Check for the "clunking" noise by positioning the window all the way up and then slam the door.
10. Repeat Steps 1 through 9 for the opposite door if required.
