ISSUE: A buzzing and/or rapping noise during deceleration from high RPM may be caused by the floor pan heat shield contacting the floor pan.

ACTION: To correct this, modify the floor pan heat shield by bending it away from the floor pan at the right front stiffening bead, Figure 3.
NOTE: During pro-delivery of 1987 Escort/Lynx and EXP vehicles equipped with MTX transaxles, inspect the floor pan heat shield for contacting the floor pan. If contact is found, bend the heat shield away from the floor pan prior to delivering the vehicle.
