SUBJECT: Safety Recall 89S73 - 1985-1987 Escort and Lynx Cars (Except Escort EXP) for Driver's Seat Track Support Modifications
AFFECTED All 1985-1987 Escort and Lynx cars (except Escort EXP).
VEHICLES
REASONS FOR
RECALL A bracket (or leg) that attaches the left front corner of the driver's seat assembly to the floor could break. This would permit a limited degree of rocking motion of the driver's seat, particularly upon acceleration or deceleration of the car. Breakage of the bracket could, potentially, affect the driver's control of the car and result in a vehicle crash.
To correct this condition, the driver's outboard seat track must be inspected and modified or replaced.
REFUNDS Refunds will be provided to owners who have paid for service as a result of this condition. Refunds will include the costs of parts, labor and any deductible charges.
