ISSUE: Windnoise from the roof rack on 1987 Taurus/Sable Station Wagons may be caused by a front cross bar pad that is too high and extends above the body of the front cross bar assembly.


ACTION: To correct the windnoise, install a new design pad which is lower. Refer to the following service procedure.

Figure 1 - Cross Bar:

1. Remove pad from front cross bar assembly and throw away.

NOTE: Lift pad with fingers.

2. Install the new pad (E7DZ-7455156-A) by placing it into the grooved channel of cross bar with finger pressure. See Figure 1.
