ISSUE: Burrs on the seat back pivot flange on 1987 Taurus/Sable vehicles with reclining split bench seats may tear the passenger's or driver's clothing while entering or exiting the vehicle.

ACTION: To correct this, smooth the burrs on the pivot flange using the following service procedure.

1. Fully recline front seat back to expose seat back pivot flange.

2. Remove burrs from pivot flange, Figure 1.

3. Apply black touch-up paint to smoothed edge.

4. Reposition front seat back.

5. Repeat Steps 1-4 on opposite seat if necessary.
