LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1987-88 SABLE

ISSUE: An inoperative electro drive engine cooling fan may be caused by loose terminals in the fan wire harness connector. The terminals may overheat and lose their spring tension causing a loose connection at the fan motor.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new improved connector that has a "duraseal" butt splice to provide a waterproof connection.

FIGURE 7:





1. Cut old cooling fan connector from the wire harness, Figure 7.

2. Install new connector (E8DZ-14A411-A).

3. Heat butt splice after installation for a waterproof connection.
