87-12-7

FORD: 1987 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1987 SABLE

ISSUE: A sticking or binding power window switch button may be caused by a switch that is positioned wrong in the switch housing.

ACTION: To correct this, reposition the power window switch in the switch housing. Refer to the following service procedure.

1. Remove power window switch trim panel assembly. Refer to the 1987 Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 45-03.

2. Slightly loosen the two (2) screws holding the switch and connector to housing.

3. With those two (2) screws slightly loose, reposition the power window switch and connector assembly so the power window switch button does not bind or hang-up on the housing.

4. Hold power window switch in non-binding position and tighten the two (2) attaching screws. Push power window switch button several times to be sure button does not bind or stick.

5. Install power window switch trim panel assembly. Refer to the 1987 Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 45-03.
