This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Ford Motor Company has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 Taurus, Sable and Continental cars.

SAFETY DEFECT
When subjected to large amounts of road salts and moisture, the body mounts on the rear corners of the subframe that supports the engine and transmission may corrode severely and ultimately separate. Should both rear mounts separate, the rear of the subframe will drop and steering may suddenly become difficult. This could result in an accident.

REPAIRS
To prevent such separation, and at no charge to you, your dealer will install reinforcement plates on both of the rear lower subframe to underbody mounts. Dealers currently have instructions and parts ordering information.
