LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1986-87 SABLE


ISSUE: "Rattles" around the door lock nob area may be caused by a piece of the lock knob bezel metal backing plate separating and dropping down inside the door.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new lock knob bezel using the procedure outlined in the Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 45-03.

Make sure that the metal part of the old bezel is completely removed and does not remain inside the door. If a piece of the metal backing plate has dropped down inside the door, remove the piece from the door inner panel, Figure 1.

NOTE: This bezel is serviced only in a neutral color and must be painted to match the interior prior to installation. Use the appropriate color vinyl dye as indicated by the interior trim code.
