ISSUE: The supplemental driver air bag restraint system is designed to provide increased accident protection for the driver of the vehicle. The air bag is a supplement to the driver three-point safety belt system. To obtain the best occupant protection and receive the full advantages of the supplemental air bag, safety belt use is necessary.

ACTION: In the event the supplemental air bag has been deactivated and service parts are not available to restore the restraint system to design intent, the vehicle may still be operated while the service parts are on order.

NOTE: Ford Motor Company recommends the use of safety belt systems for all vehicle occupants.
