Article No. 86-24-5

AIR CONDITIONING - 1.9L/2.3L HSC - NON-FORD AFTERMARKET INSTALLATION CAUSING DRIVE CONCERNS

SURGE/STALL - 1.9L/2.3L HSC - DUE TO INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF NON-FORD AFTERMARKET AIR CONDITIONING

FORD 1987 ESCORT, EXP, TEMPO

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1987 LYNX, TOPAZ

Improperly installed non-Ford aftermarket air conditioning units may cause stalling during decel, surging during low speeds and overall powertrain noise due to a low/rough idle. These concerns occur because the non-Ford air conditioning aftermarket units are not tied into the EEC IV system. To correct this, install a carburetor fast idle kit (E4FZ-9A567-B) following the instructions packaged with the kit.
