Drive/Propeller Shafts, Bearings and Joints: Description and Operation

The driveshaft assembly consists of a two piece hollow tube assembly connected by a splined slip joint, a center bearing and three single cardan type universal joints.

The splined slip joint at the center bearing prevents end loading of the driveshaft components. All driveshaft assemblies are balanced, if the vehicle is to be undercoated, cover the driveshaft and U-joints to prevent application of any undercoating material.
