FORD: 1988 THUNDERBIRD

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1988 COUGAR

ISSUE: A high pitched "ticking" noise from the exhaust system may be caused by the fit of the EGR tube to the right hand exhaust manifold. The "ticking" noise should not be mis-diagnosed as an internal engine noise.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new design EGR tube and connector. The new EGR tube has a flared end giving the EGR tube better sealing qualities.
