Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove drive belts, water pump pulley and timing belt cover.
3. Loosen cap on coolant expansion tank and drain coolant from radiator.
4. Remove radiator lower hose and the heater return hose from water pump.
5. Remove water pump attaching bolts and the pump.
6. Clean gasket mating surfaces, then install new gasket, pump and attaching bolts, torquing bolts to 14-21 ft. lbs.
7. Torque water pump pulley bolts to 13-19 ft. lbs.
8. Reverse steps 1 through 4 to complete installation.
