ISSUE: An engine coolant leak at the filler neck of the expansion tank may be caused by coolant seeping out between the plastic filler neck and the steel filler neck insert. A coolant leak in this area can be identified by a white crusty residue on the exterior of the expansion tank.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new design expansion tank that has improved sealing qualities. Refer to the Merkur XR4Ti Shop Manual, Section 27 for removal and installation instructions.
