INSTRUMENT PANEL - CRACKS IN DASH PAD - CARS BUILT BEFORE 12/01/87


MERKUR: 1985-88 XR4TI 1988 SCORPIO


ISSUE: An instrument panel dash pad that cracks after prolonged exposure to the sun may be caused by the type of material used in the production of the dash pad.

ACTION: Install a new instrument panel dash pad made of material that is more resistant to sunload. Refer to the appropriate Merkur Service Manual, Section 45-61 for service details. See the following instrument panel application chart for the correct service part number.
