REASON FOR THIS LETTER
Ford Motor Company has discovered that the Vehicle Emissions Control Information label attached to your vehicle may be unreadable. The information on the label is important to the servicing and, possibly, registration renewal of your vehicle.
NEW LABEL PROVIDED WITH THIS LETTER
Enclosed with this letter is a new label and a label cleaning package. Please read the instructions on the reverse side of this letter and attach the label.

IF YOU WANT A DEALER TO ATTACH THE LABEL, CONTACT HIM. BE SURE THAT YOU BRING THIS LETTER, THE LABEL AND THE CLEANING PACKAGE WITH YOU WHEN YOU VISIT THE DEALER.
ATTACHING THE LABEL
Read the instructions on the reverse side of this letter.

It is important that the correct label be placed on your vehicle for service and, possibly, before registration renewal.
VEHICLE EMISSION CONTROL INFORMATION LABEL REMOVAL, CLEANING AND REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT:
Before you begin this procedure, make sure your car's engine is not running and is cool. Leave the hood open for about an hour before you begin. Do this procedure in a well ventilated area away from open flames. Read warning on the cleaning pad package.
PROCEDURE:
1. Open the hood of your car and locate the Vehicle Emission Control Information label on the black plastic panel bolted at the front of the engine compartment near the radiator.
2. Pull off the old Vehicle Emission Control Information label.
3. Open one end of the enclosed Cleaning Pad package.
4. Pour any excess cleaning fluid, not absorbed into the pad, from the package onto the area where the label was removed.
5. Remove the cleaning pad from the package and refold it to fit over the area where the label was removed.
6. Place the refolded cleaning pad over the area where the label was removed and allow it to soak for about (2) two minutes.
7. Rub the area with the pad until all of the dried adhesive has been removed.
8. Let the cleaned area dry.
9. Remove the new label from the backing material and apply it to the cleaned area.
10. Smooth the label to remove bubbles or wrinkles.
11. Discard the old label, cleaning pad, wrapper, and the new label backing material.
