This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to correct the service part numbers for the caliper assemblies specified in TSB 89-1-5.

ISSUE: 1989 level brake components were installed on certain 1988 model year cars as a pull-ahead change. This happened on or after 6/22/88 at the Chicago assembly plant and on or after 6/27/88 at the Atlanta assembly plant. The 1989 level components used on some 1988 cars are the brake booster, master cylinder and front disc brake calipers.




ACTION: If service is required on the affected 1988 model year cars, 1989 brake components must be used. Refer to the following brake component hardware chart for the correct service part numbers.

NOTE: DEALER STOCK OF THE E9DZ-2B120-A AND E9DZ-2B121-A CALIPER ASSEMBLIES THAT ARE "SILVER" IN COLOR AND HAVE STEEL PISTONS CAN ONLY BE USED ON 1989 TAURUS "SHO" MODELS.
