Throttle Body Hub Pin Cleaning, Lubrication And
Throttle Lever Service Kit Installation

THROTTLE LEVER

1. Remove snow shield. Disconnect accelerator cable from the Secondary Throttle Lever (Item 4). Disconnect (and retain) the Lever Connector Link.

2. Relieve the preload on the Secondary Throttle Lever Assembly return spring (ref Item 3).

3. Remove, mutilate and discard the Spring and bushing Assembly, Lever Assembly, Flat Washer and Retaining Ring (Items 3, 4, 1 and 5).

4. Using 330 emery cloth remove corrosion form the Throttle Body Hub Pin. Polish the Hub Pin until the Stainless Steel Sleeve (Item 2) can be slipped on. Wipe Hub Pin surface clean.

5. Install new Flat Washer spacer (Item 1) onto Throttle Body Hub Pin and apply the Anti-Seize Compound (Item 6) completely to the Hub Pin.

6. Install the Stainless Steel Sleeve (Item 2) onto Throttle Body Hub Pin.

7. Install new Return Spring and Bushing Assembly (Item 3) on Secondary Throttle Lever Assembly (Item 4).

NOTE:
Note the orientation of the spring on the throttle lever hub.

8. Install this spring / bushing / lever assembly over the Stainless Steel Sleeve on the Throttle Body Hub Pin with the lever hub toward the throttle body casting.

9. Install new External Retaining Ring (Item 5).

10. Reinstall the Lever Connector Link and reconnect the accelerator cable.

11. Wipe off excess compound. Preload the spring (Item 3) by properly positioning the tangs. Do not exceed one turn of spring wind-up.

12. Verify free linkage movement and return to idle position.

13. Reinstall snow shield.

14. Start engine and verify proper linkage operation.

15. Ensure all replaced parts are mutilated and scrapped.
