IN CARES/OASIS - NO LISTINGS - NO RETURN REMOVED PARTS - NO PROGRAM COVERAGE - 12 ADDITIONAL MONTHS (24 MONTHS TOTAL) REFUND REQUESTS - BY DECEMBER 31, 1989

REASONS FOR THIS PROGRAM

Additional coverage is being provided for 1988-Model 3.0L engine equipped Taurus and Sable cars for refrigerant leakage as a result of air conditioner compressor shaft seal damage.

VEHICLES AFFECTED

1988-Model 3.0L engine equipped Taurus and Sable cars manufactured at the Atlanta Assembly Plant from April 5, 1988 through the end of 1988-model production, and the Chicago Assembly Plant from May 1, 1988 through the end of 1988-model production are covered by this program.

NOT IN CARES/OASIS

CARES/OASIS will not be activated for this program, since this program is intended as additional coverage and owners are not requested to return their cars unless the leakage condition exits.

PROGRAM PROVISIONS AND LIMITATIONS

Owners of affected cars will be informed that coverage for the leakage condition is available for an additional 12-month (24-month total coverage). The coverage starts with the warranty start date of the vehicle.

REFUNDS

Any owner who has paid for the repairs described in thisprogram will be refunded the costs of parts and labor. Repairs must have been made prior to the receipt of the notification of this program. Refund requests must be made by December 31, 1989.

SERVICE ACTION

Cars returned for service will have compressor shaft seals replaced and the system recharged.

OWNER NOTIFICATION LETTER

Affected owners will be notified with the letter shown on Attachment II.
