ISSUE: Moisture on the inside of the parking, turn, and/or side marker lamp lens may be caused by water entering through the lens-to-lamp body joints. This may also be caused by water entering through the drain hole, or a drain hole that is closed due to weld flash build-up.

ACTION: To correct this, seal the lens-to-lamp body joint using the following service procedure.

1. With lamp removed from vehicle, inspect for cracks, chips, or holes.

2. If damaged, replace with a new lamp. Seal the new lamp following Steps 3 to 10.

NOTE: Refer to the sealable exterior lamp chart to make sure the lamp is the type that can be sealed before proceeding to Step 3.

3. Carefully dry out inside of lamp using a heat lamp or heat gun. Do not heat more than warm to touch.

4. Clean the lens-to-lamp body joint around perimeter of lamp lens using glass cleaner.

CAUTION: Do not use gasoline, solvents, steel wool, or abrasive type cleaners.

5. Obtain GE Silicone RTV 118. This is a selfleveling silicone sealer.

6. Make a 45~ angle cut on the nozzle and attach nozzle to tube of sealant.

7. Working on top horizontal side of lamp, carefully apply a bead of sealer directly to bond joint around perimeter of lamp. If a good seal can be made, the drain hole can be sealed.

8. Set lamp aside for 3O minutes in order to allow sealer to partially cure.

9. Inspect lamp to make sure sealer will not be visible when the lamp is installed.

10. Install lamp in the vehicle.

NOTE: Some lamps are not included in the following list because the lens-to-lamp body joints are either partially or completely inaccessible. Because of this condition, sealer cannot be effectively applied and no modifications can be made to make sure of a moisture-free lamp. All new future lamps will be moisture-free under all climate conditions.
