SEAT TRACK - POWER SEAT LOOSE - DRIVER'S OUTBOARD FRONT PEDESTAL SEPARATED OR PARTIALLY SEPARATED


FORD: 1986-88 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1986-88 SABLE


ISSUE: A new service procedure and parts are now available to repair the driver's outboard seat track front pedestal bracket.

ACTION: Replace the pedestal bracket. Refer to the following procedure for service details. It is no longer necessary to replace the entire outboard seat track assembly.

1. Remove seat from vehicle. Refer to Car Shop Manual, Section 41-08 for service details.

2. Remove the heads of the two rivets retaining the old pedestal to seat track, Figure 1.

CAUTION: USE CARE WHEN REMOVING RIVET HEADS NOT TO DAMAGE SEAT TRACK.

3. Position the new pedestal to seat track and install T-bolts as shown in Figure 2. Tighten T-bolts to 5.5 - 8.0 ft.lb. (7.5-10.5 N-m).


4. Install seat in vehicle. Refer to Car Shop Manual, Section 41-08 for service details.
