LATCH-LIFTGATE-DOES NOT RELEASE PAST SECONDARY POSITION

ISSUE: A liftgate latch that does not completely release may be caused by a release spring that is not strong enough to push the lift gate out far enough to disengage the secondary latch. This condition will usually occur at ambient temperatures of 32~F or below, (0~C or below).
ACTION: Install a new design latch assembly that has a higher force release spring. Refer to the 1989 Shop Manual, Section 44-10 for the Removal and installation procedure.
