LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1986-88 SABLE 1988 TOPAZ


ISSUE: The magnetic fuel gauge and anti-slosh module assembly calibrations were revised on August 29, 1988. Although this revision improved fuel indication capability, it made these gauges and modules incompatible with those produced prior to August 29, 1988.

ACTION: If service is required, replace both the magnetic fuel gauge and the anti-slosh module to insure correct fuel indication.

Old service stock has been purged and is no longer available. Therefore, "revised" fuel gauges and anti-slosh modules must be replaced in matched pairs.

^ Replacement of a defective fuel gauge must be accompanied by replacement of a "revised" anti-slosh module.

^ Replacement of a defective anti-slosh module must be accompanied by replacement of a "revised" fuel gauge.
