ISSUE: A "knocking" noise or vibration may occur during up and down adjustments of the power front seat. This condition is caused by the cable moving and contacting the underside of the seat.

ACTION: Install a new power seat drive cable that has an outer casing to keep the cable from contacting the seat during operation. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Move the front seat fully back.

2. Remove the two attaching bolts that secure the front portion of the seat to the seat frame.

3. Move the front seat fully forward.

4. Remove the trim plugs from the seat frame and remove the rear mount attaching bolts.

5. Disconnect the electrical connections from the base of the seat.

6. Remove the seat.

7. Remove the two bolts holding the vertical power seat motor and remove the motor.

8. Remove the drive cable from the drive gears.

9. Clean out the old RTV silicone in the cable sockets.

10. Fill the new plastic tube half full of grease and insert the drive cable in the plastic tube.

11. Clean the excess grease off the end of the drive cable.

12. Place a small dab of new RTV silicone in the cable socket on the drive gear and motor.

NOTE: THE WHITE PLASTIC SOCKET ON THE NEW CABLE MUST BE INSTALLED ON THE DRIVE MOTOR END BEHIND THE MOTOR BRACKET.

13. Install the new drive cable assembly and reinstall the motor.

14. Reinstall the two motor attaching bolts and tighten.

15. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the seat base.

16. Reinstall the seat.

17. Tighten the seat attaching bolts to 18-24 lb.ft. (25-32 N-m).
