Auxiliary Warning Indicator and Graphic Display Module
This system monitors engine oil level, engine coolant level, windshield washer fluid level, brake pad wear, fuel level, seat belt usage, headlamp, brake and tail lamps, door ajar, liftgate ajar and ambient temperature. When ignition switch is placed in the on position, the graphic display module and all warning indicators will illuminate for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, all warning lamps should go off and graphic display should indicate outline of vehicle and the two brake lights. The two brake light indications should go out once the brake pedal is depressed. If warning lamps remain illuminated or graphic display indicates a fault, check the following:
The low engine oil warning lamp is used to indicate when engine oil level is 12 mm or more below the specified level. The lamp will be illuminated during engine starting. If oil level is sufficient, the lamp will go off when engine is operating. If oil level is low the lamp will remain on until engine oil is added and the ignition switch is placed in the off position. The module will take approximately 3 minutes to reset. If the engine is started during this period, the last recorded reading will be displayed.
The Low Coolant Warning Lamp will be illuminated whenever coolant level in the coolant recovery bottle is below the specified mark. Raise coolant level in recovery bottle to turn lamp off.
The low fuel warning lamp will be illuminated whenever fuel level drops below 1.4 gals. Add fuel to vehicle to turn lamp off.
The Washer Fluid Warning Lamp will be illuminated whenever fluid drops below the specified reservoir level. Raise washer fluid level in reservoir to turn lamp off.
The brake pad wear warning lamp will be illuminated when disc brake pads wear down to 1.5 mm. At 1.5 mm a wire loop in the brake pad is exposed and severed, which in turn illuminates the brake pad warning lamp. To turn lamp off, replace brake pads.
Air temperature is monitored by a sensor located on the righthand side of the vehicle behind the front bumper. The signal from the sensor is evaluated by the control assembly, which controls the low air temperature (ICE) indication on the graphic display. When air temperature is approximately 39°F, the ICE indication will be illuminated in yellow. When temperature drops to 32°F the triangle located around the ICE indication will be illuminated in red. If a short circuit in wiring between sensor and control assembly is present, the ICE indication on the graphic will flash. If an open circuit between the sensor and control assembly exist, the triangle will flash.
The graphic display will indicate when doors and liftgate are closed (green) and when doors and liftgate are ajar (red). To cancel door or liftgate ajar indication, close door or liftgate indicated.
The graphic will also indicate lamp bulb outage. Replacement of lamp bulb indicated will turn off graphic display indicator. A lamp out indication will also be present if an open or circuit in lamp wiring is present.
